The Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure announced that two chief inspectors and three auditors have been assigned to investigate the fight at the TÜVTÜRK vehicle inspection station in Ankara, where police officer Melih Okan Keskin lost his life last week.
On February 2, police officer Melih Okan Keskin was beaten by station employees at the TÜVTÜRK vehicle inspection station in Ankara. A few hours after the attack, Keskin fell ill and was taken to the hospital. Diagnosed with a brain hemorrhage, the police officer was treated in intensive care and passed away on February 6.
"HE HAD A BRAIN HEMORRHAGE"
Emel Keskin, the wife of Keskin who lost his 3-day battle for life, stated that she went to the hospital to obtain a report of the assault after the incident but could not save him. She said, "My husband gets up alone and goes to the oncology hospital. They say, 'Let's do a tomography.' Then it turns out he has a brain hemorrhage. The doctors said it would be an open surgery and a difficult operation." A ceremony was held at the Ankara Police Department for the deceased 44-year-old police officer. Keskin's funeral was held after the ceremony.
MINISTER TUNÇ: 2 SUSPECTS ARRESTED
Regarding the shocking incident, Justice Minister Yılmaz Tunç shared a condolence message for the deceased police officer Melih Okan Keskin and provided information that 2 suspects have been arrested as part of the investigation. Emphasizing that the investigation is being conducted meticulously in all aspects, Tunç said, "I wish mercy from God for our police officer, and my condolences and patience to his grieving family, relatives, and our Police Organization."
2 CHIEF INSPECTORS AND 3 AUDITORS ASSIGNED
In the latest statement made from the social account of the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, it was stated, "The tragic incident that occurred on February 2, 2026, at the TÜVTÜRK Ankara İvedik Vehicle Inspection Station, which came to the public's attention with the death of police officer Melih Okan Keskin on February 6, 2026, has deeply saddened us all. Immediately after the tragic event, action was taken, and 2 chief inspectors and 3 auditors were assigned by our Ministry to investigate and clarify all aspects of the process, and internal audit experts were also assigned by the relevant company."
"WE WILL FOLLOW THE PROCESS UNTIL THE END"
It was emphasized that the judicial process regarding the incident that has been referred to the judiciary is being conducted with sensitivity and diligence by the Ministry of Justice and the relevant state institutions, and it was stated, "We kindly request that all parties involved in the incident, which will be clarified at the end of the examinations to be conducted by the judiciary, act with the same sensitivity. As the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, we will continue to take all necessary precautions to ensure that our citizens can receive services in peace and security, just as we have done before. We state that we will closely follow the process until the end, and we wish mercy from God for the deceased police officer and patience to his family and relatives."
