The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services announced that all immigration applications from Afghan nationals have been suspended following an attack near the White House that resulted in the deaths of two National Guard personnel.
As the repercussions of the armed attack on two National Guard personnel near the White House in Washington D.C. continue, a notable move has come from the U.S. government.
APPLICATIONS SUSPENDED
Following the determination that the attack suspect is of Afghan nationality, the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has announced that immigration applications from Afghan nationals have been suspended.
"SUSPENDED INDEFINITELY"
The statement included, "Processing of all immigration applications related to Afghan citizens has been suspended indefinitely until security and vetting protocols are reviewed." It emphasized that the safety of the country and the American people remains the focus of USCIS.
TRUMP CONFIRMED THE SUSPECT IS OF AFGHAN NATIONALITY
U.S. President Donald Trump confirmed earlier in the day during a speech regarding the attack on the National Guards near the White House that the suspect is of Afghan nationality. Holding former President Joe Biden and his administration responsible for the suspect's arrival from Afghanistan to the U.S., Trump stated, "The attacker was brought here from this country, one of the hells of the world, through those flights organized by the Biden administration in September 2021, which everyone is talking about and has a bad reputation. Nobody knew who was coming from here. Nothing was known. This person's asylum status was extended by a law signed by President Biden; Biden is the most unsuccessful president in the history of the country."
TRUMP HAD DRAWN ATTENTION TO SECURITY PROCEDURES
Trump stated that every foreigner entering the country from Afghanistan during the Biden administration should be re-evaluated, saying, "And we must take all necessary steps to ensure the removal of all other foreigners who do not belong here or provide no benefit to our country. If they do not love our country, we do not want them. America will never bend to terrorism and will never bow down."
