The General Directorate of Meteorology announced that rain is expected across the country on Sunday, except for Edirne. Thus, almost the entire country will be under the influence of rainy weather. Experts indicate that this winter could be one of the coldest and rainiest winters in the last 10 years, while snowfall is expected in 13 provinces on Monday.
As the impact of cold weather begins to increase, the General Directorate of Meteorology (MGM) has issued important warnings to citizens.
RAIN EXPECTED IN 80 OF 81 PROVINCES
According to the latest data from the Meteorology, rain is expected in 80 provinces on Sunday, November 30, excluding Edirne. Thus, almost the entire country will be under the influence of rainy weather. As the end of November approaches, a significant drop in temperatures is expected, and both rain and snow will be seen simultaneously.
SNOWFALL IN 13 PROVINCES ON MONDAY
According to the 5-day weather forecast report published by MGM, the rainy weather that will cover the entire country on Sunday will turn into snow in higher elevations as of Monday, December 1.
The 13 cities where snowfall is expected according to the Meteorology map are as follows:
- Sivas
- Gümüşhane
- Erzincan
- Bingöl
- Erzurum
- Muş
- Bitlis
- Hakkari
- Van
- Ağrı
- Kars
- Ardahan
- Bayburt
"THIS WINTER COULD BE THE COLDEST IN THE LAST 10 YEARS"
Meteorology experts state that, based on current atmospheric data, this winter could be one of the coldest and wettest winters in the last 10 years. According to experts, the main strong and lasting snowfall that will affect the city center of Istanbul is expected in the early days of February, particularly on February 5-6.
RAINY WEATHER WILL INCREASE ITS IMPACT STEP BY STEP
While sunny weather is expected in the Central Anatolia and Eastern Anatolia regions on Friday and Saturday, rainy weather will spread across the country starting from Sunday. From Monday morning, rain will give way to snow in many provinces.
In the western regions, it has been announced that the heavy rainfall starting on Thursday night will continue uninterrupted for four days, and that the entire Marmara, Aegean, and Western Black Sea regions will be under rain during this period.
