The unsolved murder of a woman in Antalya in 2016 was resolved 10 years later thanks to the police's re-examination of the case. Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya announced that the DNA match confirmed that the perpetrator of the murder is M.K., who is currently in prison.
CASE REOPENED, EVIDENCE EXAMINED
According to the information shared by Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya, the murder of a woman named S.K., who was killed on February 29, 2016, in Antalya, was re-examined under unsolved cases. Teams from the Homicide Bureau of the Antalya Police Department, coordinated by the Antalya Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, initiated a detailed and technological examination of the case.
SIMILARITIES DETECTED BETWEEN TWO WOMAN MURDERS
As a result of archival studies, similarities were found between the murder of a woman named K.K.D., who was killed in Antalya Muratpaşa on June 14, 2019, and the murder of S.K. committed in 2016. It was assessed that M.K., who was arrested as the perpetrator of the 2019 murder, may also have committed the 2016 murder.
KILLER CONFIRMED BY DNA MATCH
The Homicide Bureau teams sent a blood sample taken from M.K., who is in prison, on November 25, 2025, to the Izmir Forensic Medicine Institution to be compared with the biological findings obtained from the crime scene in 2016. The report received on January 22, 2026, determined that the DNA profile obtained from S.K. matched exactly with M.K.'s DNA profile. Thus, it was confirmed that M.K. is also the killer of S.K., who was murdered in 2016.
