A victim patient, who was negotiating for a stent while on the operating table at a private hospital in Istanbul, shared their experience. The victim patient stated, "I said it would be dangerous if we entered from the groin, so I agreed to enter from the arm. But they told me that entering from the arm would cost an additional 7,000 lira."

A scandalous incident occurred at a private hospital in Istanbul. B.T., who went to the hospital with chest pain, was taken to the operating room for angiography. While the surgery was ongoing, the hospital's accountant entered the operating room without wearing any protective clothing. The accountant began to negotiate with the patient who was undergoing emergency intervention.

Following the scandal, the relevant department of the hospital was sealed, and an investigation was launched regarding the incident.

THE VICTIM SPOKE FOR THE FIRST TIME

Meanwhile, in the scandal that made headlines in Turkey, the patient who was negotiated with on the operating table spoke for the first time.

The victim, who participated in the Arena program on Sözcü TV, recounted his experiences one by one. "In the morning, before any procedure was done, nothing was discussed about money," said the victim, "While the angiography was being performed, the doctor said, 'We will enter with guaranteed stents.' But suddenly, I saw my wife at the door, in normal civilian clothes and unprotected. Shortly after, we started to negotiate. I wanted to settle for what the state provided. I said several times, 'Just give what the state gives.' But during the procedure, they tried to negotiate about something else. They asked whether to enter from the arm or the groin. I said it would be dangerous if we entered from the groin, so I accepted to enter from the arm. But they said there was a 7,000 lira difference for entering from the arm. I also said, 'If you want, do the procedure, we can negotiate later.'

"MY WIFE STARTED TO RECORD OUT OF FEAR"

Continuing his statements, the victim said, "At that moment, my wife started to record out of fear because we were literally negotiating," and added, "The procedure was done on my arm. My wife later recorded these because the doctor had also tried to deceive her."

"I SAW SIMILAR SITUATIONS WITH OTHER PATIENTS"

The victim also stated, "Later, we were taken from the hospital with a call from the Ministry of Health. 15 days later, I saw similar situations with other patients. They had done the same thing to a woman, and she was crying. Since we heard about the incident outside, others also came to us with similar complaints. Our situation was completely proven with evidence."

WHAT HAD HAPPENED?

A 51-year-old patient living in Istanbul applied to a hospital in Taksim on January 13 with complaints of chest pain. After tests, it was indicated that three of his arteries were blocked and that he urgently needed angiography. B.T. was transferred to a private hospital in Bakırköy during the night.

Noticing that cleaning staff were attending to patients instead of doctors and nurses, B.T. refused treatment, but after the doctors stated there was a risk of a heart attack, he was admitted and taken for angiography.

After the decision for angiography, it was revealed that the victim patient and the hospital accountant entered the operating room and negotiated about stents. The accountant, who negotiated the price of the stents, was arrested by the Bakırköy Criminal Court of Peace.
