The water level at the Naip Dam, which supplies the water needs of Süleymanpaşa, the central district of Tekirdağ, has fallen below 1%. Authorities, referring to the water level in the dam as the 'dead volume,' have called on citizens to conserve water. The current state of the dam, which is nearing drought, has been captured by a drone camera.
The Naip Dam, which supplies drinking water to the central district of Süleymanpaşa in Tekirdağ with a population of 210,000, has reached a critical point of drying up due to the dry and rainless summer months.
A SWAMPY APPEARANCE HAS FORMED
In the dam where the water level has fallen below 1%, tree roots have emerged, and islets have formed. In the dried areas, the ground has cracked, and in some regions, a swampy appearance has been observed.
CALL FOR WATER CONSERVATION TO CITIZENS
The dam was filmed by a drone from the air. In the city where water shortages have occurred during the summer months, officials from the Tekirdağ Water and Sewerage Administration (TESKİ), affiliated with the Metropolitan Municipality, stated that efforts are being made to meet the water needs of the Süleymanpaşa district by pumping water from the Yazır Pond to the Naip Dam.
Officials have referred to the water level in the dam as 'dead volume' and called on citizens to conserve water.
