White House spokesperson Karoline Leavitt took a tough stance against a journalist who asked questions about an ICE agent shooting and killing a woman named Renee Nicole Good. Leavitt accused the journalist of being biased, stating, "You are a leftist writer. You are not a reporter. The brave men and women of ICE are doing everything they can to eliminate these disgusting individuals and make our communities safer."
White House spokesperson Karoline Leavitt had a discussion with a British journalist who held an ICE officer responsible for the shooting of a U.S. citizen woman by an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent in the state of Minnesota.
DISPUTE WITH THE JOURNALIST
During a press briefing at the White House, Spokesperson Leavitt accused The Hill newspaper's British journalist Niall Stanage, who asked questions about the incidents in Minnesota, of being "left-leaning and biased."
Stanage, who asked about the shooting of U.S. citizen Renee Nicole Good by an ICE agent on January 7 in Minnesota, stated that he believed ICE officers acted "recklessly" when asked for his own comment on the matter.
Reminding the British journalist that 32 people died while in ICE custody in 2025, Leavitt said, "Well, do you know how many illegal immigrants in this country have killed how many Americans? Of course, you wouldn't know that." She argued that Stanage was not actually a journalist and should not be present in the White House press briefing room.
"YOU ARE A LEFTIST WRITER, NOT A JOURNALIST"
The dialogue between Leavitt and the journalist went as follows:
-Why was Renee Good killed in an unfortunate and tragic way?
+Because an ICE agent recklessly killed someone unjustly.
-Okay. So you are a left-leaning, biased journalist.
+What do you want me to do?
-Yes, because you are a leftist writer. You are not a journalist.
-The brave men and women of ICE are doing everything they can to eliminate these disgusting individuals and make our communities safer.
WHAT HAPPENED?
On January 7, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, ICE officers shot and killed a U.S. citizen woman in her vehicle during operations targeting immigrants.
Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem claimed that the individual attempted to "run over" ICE officers and hit them with her vehicle.
A video shared on social media, recorded by nearby citizens trying to document the ICE operations with their cell phones, showed the female driver watching the events from inside her vehicle while a police officer attempted to forcibly open the car door in the middle of the road.
It was noted that as the female driver tried to escape by turning the steering wheel, another ICE officer approaching the front of the vehicle drew his weapon and fired three shots at close range.
