In the Kodagu district of Karnataka, India, a tiger killed two people from the same family within 24 hours. The attacks occurred in the K Badaga village near Nagarahole National Park.

In the first attack, 18-year-old Chetan was killed by a tiger, and his partially eaten body was found on Sunday evening in the K Badaga village of Ponnampet in Kodagu. In the second incident, the tiger attacked 75-year-old Raju around 7:00 AM on Monday morning.

Raju's body was discovered 200 meters away from where Chetan's body was found.

Forest officials are patrolling nearby villages, and veterinarians are on standby to tranquilize the tiger if spotted.

Villagers have complained that a tiger has been frequently seen in the area and has attacked livestock. Following the two deaths, residents of Choorikadu, Palleri, Kutta, Nalkeri, and surrounding villages in the Ponnampet area are anxious about the roaming tiger.

Speaking to India Today, Congress Party leader AS Ponnanna stated, "Two people have lost their lives in a tiger attack. This is not the first time. More than eight people have died in tiger attacks in the last few months."

Discussing the human-wildlife conflict in Kodagu, Ponnanna said, "Tigers and elephants roam all over coffee plantations, putting the lives of farmers and workers at risk. Today, two people lost their lives entirely due to the negligence of the forest department."

The Congress leader called for a comprehensive investigation into the matter, stating, "It seems that the state government or local authorities have made no efforts to resolve this conflict."
