DIED AFTER EATING KUMPIR
The incident occurred on December 28 at a kumpir shop located on Forbes Street in the Buca district. According to the information obtained, Bahar Zeyrek, who fell ill after eating kumpir from the establishment, along with her mother Servet Polat and her 11-year-old son Gökhan Zeyrek, returned home after receiving treatment for vomiting and diarrhea at Buca Seyfi Demirsoy Training and Research Hospital on the same day. Two days after the incident, mother Servet Polat was found dead in the house's toilet. The family filed a complaint against the establishment.
SALMONELLA VIRUS FOUND
The İzmir Chief Public Prosecutor's Office launched an investigation upon the complaint of Servet Polat's family. During the investigations carried out within the scope of the inquiry, it was determined that other individuals who had eaten kumpir at the establishment owned by N.D. also showed signs of poisoning and sought medical attention. It was learned that the initial examination of samples taken from the materials used in food preparation at the establishment by the İzmir Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry and crime scene investigation teams revealed the presence of the salmonella virus.
BUSINESS OWNER ARRESTED
As part of the investigation related to the incident, the business owner N.D. was arrested by the court on charges of causing death by negligence after being referred from the police station. - IZMIR
