In a recent incident in Shenzhen, China, a 45-year-old woman forcibly blocked the doors of a high-speed train to allow her late friends to board, and was subsequently arrested.
In footage that quickly spread on social media, the woman is seen blocking the doors with her body despite the train staff's efforts. Two staff members gently push her and try to persuade her to enter, while the woman resists and calmly continues talking on her phone.
During the incident, while struggling with the staff, the woman also gestures for her late friends to hurry up. Despite the train's scheduled departure time, the doors cannot be closed due to the woman's resistance.
Despite all the chaos, the train was eventually able to depart and reached its destination on time. However, the incident did not go unpunished.
The Chinese police apprehended the woman the next day in Xiamen city and detained her on charges of "disrupting train operations." This offense is considered a serious violation in the punctual and orderly Chinese high-speed train system.
Social media users reacted strongly to the incident. One user commented, "There must be a penalty for this behavior; it wasted many people's time," while another added, "Even a one-minute delay can disrupt the schedule of all subsequent trains."
The China Railway Administration stated, "The punctuality and reliability of our train system are vital for millions of our passengers. No individual situation can justify the disruption of this system."
