ISRAEL'S ATTACKS ON IRAN WILL BE DISCUSSED

More than 40 foreign ministers gathered in Istanbul to attend the meeting held at a critical time due to the conflict between Iran and Israel.

Under the presidency of Fidan, the 51st Session of the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers will be held in Istanbul on June 21-22 with the theme "OIC in a Transforming World," with a record number of high-level participants compared to previous meetings.

Approximately 1000 participants from 57 OIC member countries, as well as affiliated organizations, observer countries, and other international organizations, will attend the meeting.

A special session will also be held to address Israel's airstrikes against Iran.

Before the meeting, efforts are ongoing for the Arab League to hold an extraordinary meeting to discuss the latest developments. Additionally, OIC Contact Group meetings on Jammu Kashmir and Rohingya Muslims will also be held on the sidelines of the meeting.

At the end of the meeting, it is expected that the Istanbul Declaration will be approved, including resolutions on Gaza and Palestine, which are on the OIC agenda.

TURKEY HOSTS FOR THE 4TH TIME

Turkey will assume the Council Presidency for one year at the 51st OIC meeting, having previously hosted OIC meetings in 1976, 1991, and 2004.

The meeting will address the current situation resulting from Israel's ongoing massacres in Gaza, efforts to rebuild humanitarian and physical infrastructure, steps towards implementing a two-state solution, the global and regional security and stability impacts of Israel's attacks on Iran, and enhancing cooperation in the face of challenges affecting Muslim communities.

In his address at the meeting, Foreign Minister Fidan is expected to express that Turkey will continue to monitor the challenges facing the Islamic world, particularly the Palestinian issue, as priority agenda items during its presidency, and that it will strive to enhance the capacity and capabilities of OIC members and the Organization.

Fidan is also expected to note that Israel's destructive attacks in the region are increasingly spreading, attacking Iran after Gaza, Lebanon, Syria, and Yemen, and that Turkey will continue to support any steps to prevent further escalation of tensions between Iran and Israel, emphasizing that OIC countries should unite and act together against Israel's destabilizing actions.

Starting from the belief that the Palestinian issue is the root cause of all conflicts in the region, Fidan is expected to reiterate Turkey's belief that a two-state solution is the only way to achieve a just and lasting resolution to the Israel-Palestine conflict, emphasizing that the Palestinian cause and the ownership of Jerusalem remain the primary agenda of the OIC.

It is anticipated that Minister Fidan will highlight the need for OIC countries to work together for a stable and prosperous Syria, while continuing to support Syria's territorial integrity and unity, and focusing on revitalizing the country's economy, as well as emphasizing that the fact that the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus is an observer member of the OIC reaffirms the existence of two peoples and two states on the island of Cyprus.

Fidan is expected to reiterate his call for all Muslim countries to support the natural rights of Turkish Cypriots and to establish direct contact with them, while emphasizing the importance of OIC efforts against violations of the fundamental rights and freedoms of the Turkish Muslim Minority in Western Thrace and the Turkish population in the Dodecanese Islands in Greece.

It is anticipated that Minister Fidan will also underline the urgent need for a unified response to the rising Islamophobia and the actions involving discrimination and intolerance against Muslim communities around the world.

THE ORGANIZATION OF ISLAMIC COOPERATION WAS ESTABLISHED IN 1969

The OIC (formerly known as the Organization of Islamic Conference - OIC) was established in response to the arson of Al-Aqsa Mosque in East Jerusalem, which is under Israeli occupation, at the summit held in Rabat on September 25, 1969.
