COST IS 137 BILLION DOLLARS
The dam, which is planned to cost approximately 137 billion dollars, will have three times the capacity of the current largest dam in the world, the Three Gorges Dam.
The Atatürk Dam, which provides an annual income of 1.7 billion dollars to the Turkish economy, has an annual electricity production capacity of 8.9 billion kWh. Considering that the dam has produced approximately 210 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity since it began generating power in 1992, the scale of China's mega dam project can be easily understood.
