The wreckage of a passenger plane that went missing yesterday in the state of Alaska, USA, has been found. The incident, recorded as the third aviation disaster in the country within a week, resulted in no survivors among the 10 people on board.
The wreckage of a small passenger plane belonging to Bering Air, a Cessna 208B Grand Caravan, which took off with 10 people from the city of Unalakleet in Alaska, USA, and disappeared from radar shortly after, has been found.
10 PEOPLE LOST THEIR LIVES
Officials stated that no one survived from the aircraft, which had one pilot and 9 passengers, and shared that the wreckage was located in the frozen part of the sea. Alaska State Police Official Ben Endres reported that all 10 people on board the plane were adults.
Coast Guard official Benjamin McIntyre-Coble said that radar data provided by the U.S. Civil Air Patrol indicated that the plane experienced an "event that caused a rapid loss of altitude and speed" around 15:18 local time. McIntyre-Coble noted that he could not speculate on what this event was, adding that the Coast Guard did not receive any distress signals from the emergency locator transmitter, which sends signals to satellites when it comes into contact with seawater.
THIRD AVIATION DISASTER IN A WEEK
Bering Air Operations Director David Olson had stated that the plane took off from Unalakleet at 14:37 local time yesterday. The tragic accident has been recorded as the third aviation disaster in the United States within a week.
