In the U.S., Jamie Wilson-Spray (25) was killed by her ex-husband Jacob Spray while she was having a phone interview for a chef position at a restaurant.
Melissa Berry, the restaurant manager, who witnessed Jamie's screams during the attack while she was interviewing her on March 26, said, "It was a scream I will never forget."
When the police arrived at the house, they found Wilson-Spray's lifeless body alongside a freshly bought pizza. The autopsy revealed that she had been strangled and had numerous bruises on her body.
The prosecution stated that Spray committed the murder out of anger over his ex-wife moving on with someone else. It was revealed in court that Spray had placed hidden cameras in her trailer to monitor his ex-wife.
The family of the young chef candidate, who was three weeks away from completing her master's degree at Washington State University, attended the hearings wearing t-shirts designed with "Justice for Jamie."
After a four-hour deliberation, Spray was found guilty and is expected to receive a sentence of at least 20 years in prison. The verdict will be announced on March 24.
