While the two-week-long factional struggle between Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu and Özgür Özel within the CHP has been paused this week, as both sides have announced they will not hold group meetings, a new debate is expected to begin over Özel and his team's demand for a congress. According to a report by Haberler.com Ankara Representative Şerife Güzel, Özel and his team plan to submit the congress demand to the party headquarters with approximately one thousand signatures. However, Kılıçdaroğlu’s aides state that it is not possible to meet this demand.
Following the annulment decision in CHP, while there was a dispute between the General Headquarters and the Parliamentary Group over who would hold the group meeting, attention turned to who would conduct this week's group meeting.
NEITHER ÖZEL NOR KILIÇDAROĞLU WILL HOLD A GROUP MEETING
CHP Deputy Group Chairman Murat Emir announced at a press conference held in Parliament that Özgür Özel would not hold a group meeting this week. It was also announced by party spokesperson Müslüm Sarı that Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu would not hold a group meeting. Thus, both figures have paused the dispute for this week by deciding not to hold group meetings.
ÖZEL AND HIS TEAM WILL PUSH FOR THE CONVENTION
The next move of Özel's team, who announced they would not hold a group meeting, will be to pressure the general headquarters regarding the convention. Deputy Group Chairman Murat Emir stated that the demand for a convention, with around a thousand signatures, would be submitted to the General Headquarters on Wednesday. Attention turned to what Kılıçdaroğlu's response to this demand would be.
WHAT WILL KILIÇDAROĞLU DO ABOUT THE SIGNATURES?
According to information obtained by Haberler.com Ankara Representative Şerife Güzel, Kılıçdaroğlu's aides express the view that no action is to be taken on this matter. Party sources comment, "No step can be taken regarding the convention before the court case concludes. Since the Supreme Court of Appeals decision has not been finalized, it is not possible to take any action regarding the signatures." Therefore, they indicate that it is not possible for Özel and his team's demand for a convention to be met.
KILIÇDAROĞLU HIMSELF WILL INITIATE THE CONVENTION PROCESS
CHP Chairman Kılıçdaroğlu had stated in his speech at the General Headquarters last week that he would start the convention process. While there is eager anticipation for when the convention process will begin, it is noted that disciplinary processes related to provincial organizations will be carried out first, and then the calendar for the convention may come to the agenda.
