In Salihli district of Manisa, approximately 600 tons of melons and watermelons planted on an area of 220 acres by 3 partners were distributed to the public for free. Hearing the news, citizens flocked to the field. THEY DID NOT LIKE THE PRICE OFFEREDAhmet Akbaş, Metin Akbaş, and Eyüp Çakar jointly planted melons and watermelons on a 220-acre area in Yılmaz Neighborhood of Salihli. The three partners, who spent approximately 1.5 million lira, informed the buyers when it was time to harvest the melons and watermelons. When the buyers who came to the field offered amounts ranging from 100,000 to 300,000 lira, the three partners decided to distribute their products for free instead of selling them at this price. THEY DECLARED IT WAS FREEThe three partners announced on their social media accounts that the melons and watermelons in the field were free and those who wanted to harvest them could come to the field. After the announcement, citizens flocked to the field. Some citizens came to the field with tractors, some with motorcycles, and some with their cars to collect the products. The citizens carried the melons and watermelons in sacks, bags, or under their arms. "THE PRICE THEY OFFERED HURT US"Ahmet Akbaş, one of the landowners, stated that they were happy that the citizens harvested the melons and watermelons from the field. He said, "This is a 220-acre land. We planted melons on approximately 65 acres and watermelons on the remaining part. The cost of melons and watermelons to us was approximately 1.5 million lira. When the harvest time came, demands started to come from the buyers. Some of the visitors to the field tried to bargain. But when they all came with amounts like 100,000-200,000-300,000, we were hurt to sell a product that cost us 1.5 million lira at the prices they demanded. Instead of selling the product at this price, which we grew with effort, we wanted to distribute it to our citizens for free. When we shared on our social media accounts 'You can come and collect it for free,' our citizens flocked to the field for the harvest. The citizens who flocked to the field took the harvested melons and watermelons to their homes. Our expectation was 300-350 tons, but since yesterday, we saw that there are over 600 tons of melons in the field," he said. Crowds flocked to the field when they heard it was free;
