The 17 and 21-year-old lovers who came from Van to Istanbul communicated with the victims via social media, showing them their naked images and prompting them to undress as well, recording those moments. Later, the suspects demanded money using the footage, sending the naked images of those who did not pay to their families. The lovers, who defrauded a total of 500,000 TL using this method, were caught in an operation.
After settling into a hotel in Istanbul from Van, two lovers extorted 500,000 TL by blackmailing individuals they identified through numerous fake accounts they created on social media with their naked images.
RECORDED NAKED IMAGES AND BLACKMAILED
The 17-year-old female suspect video-called individuals she met on social media, undressed, and recorded these images by getting the other person to undress as well. After these conversations, the 21-year-old male suspect intervened and demanded money from the victims.
SENT IMAGES TO VICTIMS' RELATIVES
According to a report by Tugay Saday from Star Haber; the suspect threatened those who did not pay by sending the images to their families. The couple sent the images of some victims who did not accept the blackmail to their close circles, victimizing dozens of people with this method. A complaint made about the incidents prompted the police to take action.
500,000 TL SCAM
With the operation carried out, the suspects were taken into custody and brought to the police station. Numerous obscene images belonging to many individuals were seized from the examined mobile phones. The investigation revealed that the suspects had gained an unjust profit of approximately 500,000 TL within a month.
ONE ARRESTED, THE OTHER RELEASED
The 21-year-old male suspect, who was referred to the courthouse, was arrested. His 17-year-old girlfriend was released under judicial control conditions.
