As the new season approaches, a sweet excitement has enveloped the referees who will officiate in the Super League this season. Out of the 54 referees who will be assigned to matches in the league, 23 will be blowing the whistle for the first time in the Super League.
The Turkish Football Federation (TFF) Central Referee Committee (MHK) announced the list of Elite Referees for the 2025-2026 Football Season.
23 REFEREES WILL WHISTLE FOR THE FIRST TIME
Of the 54 referees who will officiate in the Super League next season, 23 will be whistling for the first time in the Super League.
THE LEADER IS HALIL UMUT MELER
Among the referees who will officiate in the new season of the Super League, Halil Umut Meler topped many of the statistics. The experienced referee Meler has officiated the most matches in the league (188 times), has blown the whistle in the most matches across all professional leagues (Super League, abroad, 1st, 2nd, 3rd Leagues, and cups) (350 times), has officiated the most matches abroad (92), shown the most red cards (95), issued the most yellow cards (1670 times), and awarded the most penalty decisions (142 times).
THE OLDEST REFEREES
On the other hand, among the 54 referees who will officiate in the new season, the oldest are Ümit Öztürk (41) and Yiğit Arslan (41), while the youngest referees are 27-year-old Muhammed Selim Özbek, Oğuzhan Çakır, and Ömer Faruk Gültekin.
