Citizens who have IPTV and similar applications on their mobile phones cannot access banking applications. As a precaution, banks are saying that if these applications are present, you should not run my application.
IT Specialist Hakan Topuzoğlu stated that some banks do not allow the installation of mobile applications on mobile phones that have applications like IPTV.
Topuzoğlu, who noted that official institutions besides banks also conduct inspections and do not allow installations on devices with unknown source applications, said, "The reason some banks restrict devices with applications like IPTV is actually a reflection of our warnings that we often bring up; do not install unknown applications, do not use them, or that unknown applications in terms of data sources, and unregulated applications can create significant problems. If we ask why banks do not want devices with such applications to be used, it is because these applications contain certain types of malware, known as Trojans. What does this do? It turns your computer into a - a term we often use - zombie. So what does it mean to turn into a zombie? It means that your device, computer, and phone are used as if they belong to the malware, making you perform certain actions. Consequently, since these actions are carried out through your IP address, it creates an environment where you will be held responsible in any situation. Thus, banks say as a precaution that if these applications exist, you should not run my application. Because naturally, you entered a password there, it saved these passwords and ensured they were sent to itself. So what will happen? It will be able to access your bank accounts or perform other transactions. In fact, banking institutions have taken the lead, but other institutions, especially those operating officially, are also now conducting such inspections and do not allow the installation of their applications if there are unknown source applications," he said.
"THERE IS NO TRUST IN IPTV" Topuzoğlu stated that such applications could also take over social media accounts, saying, "Access to social media accounts can certainly be provided. Because after entering your device and obtaining those permissions, it can access all kinds of information. As we have mentioned before, we used to save data in a specific place in internet browsers. We stored it in a password manager. This database is also accessible, and consequently, many of our accounts are at risk of being compromised. Of course, since the passwords for social media accounts are also stored in this way, they can be accessed. Nothing illegal should be present; we should not use them. I mean, while using a program, perhaps due to the high license fees, people are somewhat forced to turn to them, but we do not know what is inside that program. We do not know what kind of effect it will have on you or what problems it may cause when activating it. For this reason, just as those IPTV services are illegal, I say there is no trust in thieves. At this point, using such software can bring even bigger problems," he stated.
