The usage fee for the restrooms at Mermerli Beach, located in Antalya's Kaleiçi Marina, has become a topic of discussion on social media. While the fee for using the restrooms is set at 1 Euro, Turkish citizens are charged 30 TL, while foreign tourists pay 1 Euro.
Mermerli Beach, located in the historic Kaleiçi Marina of Antalya, has resumed service after a renovation process.
DIFFERENT PRICES FOR TOURISTS AND TURKS
However, the different pricing applied at the nearby toilets belonging to the beach operation drew attention. While the usage fee was stated as "1 Euro" on the sign hanging on the wall, it was observed that Turkish citizens were charged 30 TL, while foreign tourists were charged 1 Euro. The operating hours of the toilet were determined as 08:00 - 22:00.
"IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN FREE"
Evaluating the toilet fees, citizen Merve Mavi stated, "At least they could offer a bit more discount or make it free. Because the beach belongs to the public. I also found it quite excessive. Very unnecessary. Different prices for tourists and Turks, that shouldn't be the case. Free services could be provided. It would be better if the service was free."
PRICES AT THE BEACH HAD BEEN ON THE AGENDA BEFORE
The entrance fee of 1000 TL per person at Mermerli Beach, which opened during the Kurban Bayramı holiday, had caused public outrage. Receipts shared on social media showed that the total entrance fee for two people was 2000 TL. After a short closure due to renovation, the sunbed rental fee was fixed at 500 TL with the intervention of the Antalya Governorship.

The Antalya Governorship, in a statement detailing the works related to Mermerli Beach and its surroundings, noted that the beach was leased for an annual fee of 15 million TL + VAT and that the condition of being "a publicly accessible operation" was recorded in the protocol. The statement also mentioned that a total of 64.7 million TL was spent on restoration and landscaping.
