In the ongoing debate over "wedding dress trial fees," which has long pitted engaged couples against bridal shop owners, the first official step came from Bartın. In the city, the fee for trying on wedding dresses has now been placed on a legal footing and added to the official price list.

The new price tariff prepared by the Bartın Chamber of Tailors and approved by the Turkish Confederation of Tradesmen and Craftsmen (TESK) has marked a first in the city's sector.

THE COST OF ENTERING THE FITTING ROOM IS 2,000 TL

In the published new list, the "Zero Wedding Dress Fitting Fee" to be applied in stores has officially appeared as an item with a maximum of 2,000 TL. With this decision, the fitting fee practice has gained a legal status.

THOSE WHO WANT WILL CHARGE, THOSE WHO DON'T WON'T

This decision does not mean that every wedding dress shop will be required to charge this fee. The determined amount of 2,000 TL represents the maximum limit (ceiling price) that tradesmen can apply. Wedding dress shops in Bartın are completely free to decide whether to demand this fee or not. However, it has been announced that legal action will be initiated against businesses that choose to charge a fitting fee and exceed this official limit.

TRADESMEN ARE DIVIDED INTO TWO

Despite the official decision, the practice has caused a serious rift among wedding dress shop tradesmen in Bartın. Some business owners, reacting strongly to the new tariff, argue that engaged couples are already under a heavy debt burden. Tradesmen opposing the decision stated, "Bartın is a small place, we face each other here. What does it mean to ask people for 2,000 TL? This decision will turn people away from our shops, we will lose customers," indicating they will not implement the practice in their stores.
