The US military announced that it conducted a military intervention off the Gulf of Oman against an empty oil tanker flying the flag of Palau, on the grounds that it violated the blockade imposed on Iranian ports. The ship, which ignored warnings from US forces and did not alter its course, was struck by a fighter jet and stopped.
The U.S. military announced that it intervened in the Gulf of Oman against a Palau-flagged empty oil tanker that violated the blockade on Iranian ports.
FIGHTER JET LAUNCHED
In a statement from the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM), it was stated that the crew of the vessel "M/T Marivex" did not comply with U.S. forces' instructions and continued sailing toward Iranian ports. As part of the intervention, an F/A-18 Super Hornet fighter jet was launched from the USS Abraham Lincoln aircraft carrier and fired precision-guided munitions at the ship's engine and rudder sections. The statement noted that the Marivex is no longer heading toward Iran.
"7 NON-COMPLIANT VESSELS NEUTRALIZED"
CENTCOM announced that since the blockade began on April 13, 7 vessels that did not comply with warnings have been neutralized, 134 vessels that followed instructions have been redirected, and 42 vessels carrying humanitarian aid have been allowed passage.
