In his statement, the US President emphasized that extremely constructive talks were held.
Referring to the history of relations between the two countries, Trump said, “The friendship between the people of the United States and China dates back to the founding of America. Our first mission to reach the shores of China arrived in this region in 1784. They used the phrase 'new people' for us, and 250 years later, I can say that the relationship between the two countries has become one of the most important in world history.”

Stating that mutual respect forms the essence of the relationship, Trump said, “From the very beginning, our citizens have felt a mutual respect for each other. There is great mutual respect and affection on both sides. Our mutual respect with China reflects the immense potential of our peoples.”
Chinese leader Xi emphasized that the key to the relationship is mutual respect, saying, “Trump and I believe that US-China relations are the most important relationships in the world. China and the US should be partners, not rivals.”
