U.S. President Donald Trump responded harshly to questions regarding the MRI scan taken last month and insulted reporters. Trump replied to Minnesota Governor Tim Walz's call for the release of the MRI results by stating that the results were excellent.
US President Donald Trump gave a very harsh response to a reporter regarding questions about an MRI scan taken last month and insulted him.
Returning to the White House on Air Force One with his wife Melania on Sunday night, Trump answered questions from journalists following Minnesota Governor Tim Walz's call for the release of the MRI results.
In response to a reporter's question, "What is your response to Governor Walz's call for transparency?" Trump replied:
"The results were perfect. Just like that phone call they impeached me over. Absolutely perfect. If you want it published, I will publish it."
With these words, Trump referred to the phone call he had with Ukrainian President Zelensky in 2019, which led to the first impeachment process.
Then CBS News reporter Weija Jiang asked which area the MRI was taken of. Trump gave an astonishingly harsh response:
"I have no idea. An MRI was just done. It wasn't the brain because I took a cognitive test and scored perfectly. Something you could never do."
Trump directed these words specifically at Jiang. He then concluded the press conference by saying, "Good night, everyone," and pointed at another female reporter saying, "You too."
Trump's MRI results became a topic of discussion again after he referred to Walz as "seriously brain-dead" on social media last week.
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt stated that at the end of October, Trump underwent "advanced imaging" as part of a routine health check at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center and that the results were "extraordinarily healthy," but did not disclose which area the MRI was taken of.
When journalists asked the same question again in mid-November, Leavitt did not provide a clear answer to the question this time either.
Trump-Walz tension escalates
Trump's insults towards Walz escalated with a post he made on Thanksgiving night, where he referred to the governor as "brain-dead." In response to a reporter's question, "Many Americans see this statement as an insult. Do you stand by your words?" Trump replied:
"Absolutely. Is there a problem with that? If you ask me, there is a problem with Walz."
Trump also accused Walz of "putting innocent people at risk by bringing in hundreds of thousands of Somali immigrants" to Minnesota.
In response, Walz questioned Trump's health by saying, "Release the MRI results" and stated on Meet the Press that Trump is "physically declining."
Continuous insults to journalists
Trump's harsh outburst was not limited to Jiang. In the same week, Trump also lashed out at CBS's White House chief correspondent Nancy Cordes:
as Cordes was questioning the federal security process regarding an Afghan suspect who shot two National Guards in Washington DC. Despite Cordes being a Princeton graduate, Trump did not hesitate to make a personal attack.
In response to Cordes reminding him of the thorough security checks conducted by federal agencies, Trump said:
"They let them into the country. Are you stupid? Are you a stupid person? That's why you're asking those questions because you're stupid."
He also attacked a New York Times reporter
Last week, Trump referred to New York Times reporter Katie Rogers as "ugly." Rogers had written that Trump was holding fewer events due to his advancing age and was struggling to maintain his former energy.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump said:
"The idiots at the New York Times are at it again. This cheap newspaper is the enemy of the people. The reporter Katie Rogers is both ugly inside and out, a third-rate journalist."
