The person behind the account sharing posts under the name 'Ali Demir Evrensel' on social media in Adana has been identified as a fugitive who has been on the run for years, with a confirmed prison sentence of 36 years, 7 months, and 12 days for two murder cases. It has been revealed that the convict created a writer's identity using a fake identity and published 7 books, as well as organized conferences in many provinces.
The Seyhan District Police Department's Crime Prevention and Investigation Bureau teams have launched an investigation into an account sharing content on social media under the name "Ali Demir Evrensel." The teams scanning the profile found that there was no real person registered with this name. By uploading the images from the account to a facial recognition system, the police discovered that the account was actually used by R.E. (49).
IT WAS REVEALED THAT HE WAS WANTED FOR MANY CRIMES RANGING FROM MURDER TO FRAUD
Police examining R.E.'s criminal record learned that he had a total of 36 years, 7 months, and 12 days of sentences for two murders he was involved in back in 2006, as well as a confirmed 2-year sentence for 'forgery of official documents.' Additionally, it was understood that he was also wanted for 'insult,' 'possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition,' and 'fraud' as a fugitive.
HE WROTE 7 BOOKS AND HELD SIGNING EVENTS WITH A FAKE IDENTITY
The police also revealed that the convict's fake identity was not only used on social media. It was learned that R.E. wrote 7 books under the fake name, sold them online, and organized conferences and signing events in various cities from Adana to Bursa over the past two years. The convict, who built a significant following on social media, had his murder cases concluded in 2021, and it was learned that the Supreme Court upheld the sentence given.
HE WAS CAUGHT IN A VILLA
After the technical surveillance, it was determined that the fugitive was hiding in a villa in the Gülbahçesi neighborhood of Seyhan district. R.E., noticing the teams approaching the address for the operation, attempted to escape by jumping out of the back window but was quickly neutralized by the police who took precautions in the garden. During the search of the villa, 1,123 drug pills, a precision scale, 240 euros, 1,780 pounds, 34,100 lira, and a large number of digital materials were seized.
After his procedures at the police station, R.E. underwent a health check and told the press, "I am not the one to be ashamed of. The accusations against me are to turn us away from the path of truth." The fugitive convict was sent to prison after his procedures at the courthouse.
