U.S. President Donald Trump continues to insult Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell for not lowering interest rates. Trump stated that interest rates should be 2-3 points lower for the U.S. economy, and that this could save the U.S. economy more than $800 billion, calling Powell "stupid and thick-headed."
US President Donald Trump once again targeted Fed Chairman Jerome Powell, claiming he did not lower interest rates. Since taking office, Trump has continued to use derogatory terms like stupid, foolish, and blockhead towards Powell. Today, Trump referred to Powell as "stupid and thick-headed."
WANTS INTEREST RATES TO BE LOWERED
On the other hand, Trump stated that interest rates should be lowered by at least two to three points, saying that the Fed could raise rates once the situation turns negative.
WILL SPEAK TODAY
Fed Chairman Powell will respond to questions about why he has not lowered interest rates in the US Congress today. Trump, on his own social media platform, stated, "There is no inflation in the US and the economy is doing quite well. Despite this, while Europe has lowered rates 10 times, we have not lowered rates at all. Rates should have been 2-3 points lower, which could have saved the US economy more than $800 billion. I hope Congress takes action against this very stupid and thick-headed person."
