Iran announced that it has suspended its obligations under the memorandum of understanding, claiming that the US has not fulfilled its commitments under the agreement. Commenting on the decision, US President Donald Trump drew attention with his one-sentence response: "I don't care at all."
IRAN SUSPENDS MEMORANDUM
Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi stated that the memorandum of understanding signed with the US is not being effectively implemented due to the Washington administration's failure to fulfill its obligations, and announced that Tehran has also suspended its obligations under the agreement.
Gharibabadi said, "The US has violated all its commitments in the memorandum of understanding and suspended all articles. In response to this situation, our country has also suspended its obligations under the memorandum of understanding, and it is no longer implemented."
"ATTACKS BEGAN WHILE NEGOTIATIONS WERE ONGOING"
Gharibabadi, who claimed that the US launched attacks against Iran while the negotiation process was ongoing, said, "The US has once again understood that an aggressive attitude will not yield results and has received the necessary response to this stance."
TRUMP'S ONE-SENTENCE RESPONSE
US President Donald Trump, in a brief interview with the NewsNation channel, responded with "I don't care at all" when reminded of Iran's announcement that it would no longer comply with the memorandum of understanding.
In the same interview, Trump expressed sorrow for the two US soldiers who lost their lives in Jordan, while reiterating that the US's main goal is to prevent Iran from possessing nuclear weapons.
FUTURE OF THE AGREEMENT UNCERTAIN
The memorandum of understanding signed in June stipulated a 60-day negotiation process aimed at maintaining the ceasefire and reaching a comprehensive agreement. The consecutive statements from the parties have further increased uncertainty about the future of the agreement.
