U.S. President Donald Trump threatened to impose new tariffs if Canada retaliates against the U.S. regarding customs duties. Trump stated, "Please inform Canadian Prime Minister Trudeau that when he imposes retaliatory tariffs on the U.S., our reciprocal tariffs will immediately increase by the same amount."
U.S. President Donald Trump once again threatened Canada with new tariffs after imposing a 10% customs duty on energy products such as crude oil imported from Canada and a 25% customs duty on other products.

Trump said, "Please explain to Canadian Premier Trudeau that when he imposes retaliatory tariffs on the U.S., our reciprocal tariff will also immediately increase by the same amount."
TRUDEAU CALLED IT "VERY STUPID"
In a statement following the U.S.'s new tariffs, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau indicated that they would impose a 25% customs duty on goods worth $21 billion imported from the U.S. immediately, and on goods worth $106 billion within 21 days, describing Trump's tariff decision as "very stupid."
TRADE WAR BETWEEN THE U.S. AND CANADA
On February 1, U.S. President signed an executive order imposing a 25% customs duty on imports from Canada and Mexico. The tariffs were expected to take effect on February 4. Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau also announced that as a retaliation, his country would impose a 25% customs duty on products imported from the U.S. starting from March 4.
