U.S. President Donald Trump announced a "golden card" program that will provide residency and citizenship to foreign investors. It was reported that the fee will be 5 million dollars (182 million TL) and that wealthy individuals will be able to purchase this card to come to the United States.
The President of the United States, Donald Trump, announced that they will sell the "golden card," which will grant residency and a pathway to citizenship for foreign investors who create jobs in the country, for $5 million (182 million TL).
After signing presidential decrees in the Oval Office, Trump made statements. Stating that they will sell the "golden card," Trump said, "We will set a price of about $5 million for this card, which will provide you with 'green card' privileges and also a pathway to citizenship."
THE PROGRAM WILL BE LAUNCHED WITHIN 2 WEEKS
Trump indicated that wealthy individuals will come to the U.S. by purchasing this card, explaining that these individuals will spend a lot of money, pay a lot of taxes, and create a significant number of jobs. Trump pointed out that they believe this will be extremely successful and stated that they will unveil the program within the next two weeks.
"IF WE SELL 10 MILLION CARDS, IT WOULD TOTAL 50 TRILLION DOLLARS"
Expressing that they could sell 1 million or more of these cards, Trump said, "For example, 1 million cards would be worth 5 trillion dollars. If we sell 10 million cards, it would total 50 trillion dollars. We have 35 trillion dollars in debt; this would be good, we will see." In response to a question about whether individuals from all countries would be eligible for this golden card, Trump stated that it would depend on the situation and that the individuals to whom this card would be sold would be carefully examined. When asked if a Russian oligarch would be eligible to buy a golden card, Trump replied, "Yes, probably. I know some Russian oligarchs; they are very good people."
TRADE SECRETARY LUTNICK MADE A STATEMENT
Trade Secretary Howard Lutnick also described the EB-5 investor visa as "nonsense" and argued that it is a way to obtain a green card at a low price. Lutnick stated that they would end the EB-5 program and explained that Trump wanted to introduce the "golden card" program instead. Lutnick said regarding the individuals to whom the golden card would be sold, "Of course, they will need to go through a review, but they can come to America to ensure that they are great global citizens by world standards." Lutnick noted that many other countries, including Canada, which he referred to as the "51st state," are implementing this program.
A green card grants its holders the right to live and work in the U.S. indefinitely. The EB-5 program, designed for investor immigrants in the U.S., also allows for obtaining a green card by making a certain amount of investment and creating jobs in the country.
