TÜRK-İŞ announced the hunger and poverty line.

TÜRK-İŞ calculated the hunger threshold for a family of four in March as 32,793 lira and the poverty threshold as 106,817 lira.

The results of TÜRK-İŞ's monthly "Hunger and Poverty Line Research," which aims to reveal the living conditions of workers and determine the impact of price changes in basic necessities on family budgets, were announced for March 2026.

HUNGER LINE 32 THOUSAND LIRA

According to the research, the "hunger line," which represents the amount of food expenditure required for a healthy, balanced, and sufficient diet for a family of four living in Ankara in March, was 32 thousand 793 lira.

POVERTY LINE REACHED 106 THOUSAND LIRA

The "poverty line," which corresponds to the total amount of other necessary expenses for food, clothing, housing, transportation, education, health, and similar needs, was calculated as 106 thousand 817 lira. The "cost of living" for a single worker was 42 thousand 585 lira per month.

PRICE OF LAMB MEAT PER KILOGRAM INCREASED

According to the research, there was no change in the prices of milk, yogurt, and cheese products this month. The price of minced meat and cubed meat per kilogram remained the same, while the price of lamb meat, which had decreased slightly last month, increased. The price of chicken meat per kilogram rose, while fish prices decreased slightly. The price of eggs continues to fluctuate. A slight increase was detected in the prices of legumes. The average price of vegetables per kilogram was 132.21 lira, and the average price of fruits per kilogram was 97.50 lira.

INCREASE IN PASTA AND FLOUR PRICES

A slight decrease was observed in the prices of rice and bulgur, while an increase was noted in the prices of pasta and flour. The price of sunflower oil per kilogram remained unchanged, while there was a limited increase in the prices of butter and margarine. The price of olive oil decreased slightly.

It was observed that tea prices were reduced in some supermarkets. The prices of honey and molasses remained the same, the price of jam increased, and the price of sugar decreased.
