ALARMING NEWS FROM İZMİR Following the series of good news from Minister Yumaklı, another concerning development occurred. A forest fire that broke out in the borders of Menderes and Seferihisar districts of İzmir is being intervened from the air and ground.
A fire broke out in the forested area between the Kuyucak neighborhood of Menderes and the Orhanlı neighborhood of Seferihisar for an undetermined reason. Upon notification, 6 planes, 23 water tankers, 6 water supply vehicles, and 3 bulldozers from the General Directorate of Forestry were dispatched to the region. Teams are continuing their efforts to bring the fire under control in the area affected by strong winds.
MINISTER YUMAKLI: THE FIRE IN BOLU GÖYNÜK IS ALSO UNDER CONTROL Minister of Agriculture and Forestry, İbrahim Yumaklı, shared the latest information regarding the ongoing fires in Turkey live. Minister Yumaklı, who appeared before the camera with his staff, reported that 150 fires had been intervened in within 2 days and listed the good news one after another. Minister Yumaklı stated, "The fire on the Bilecik-Sakarya border has largely been brought under control. The fire in Manisa Akhisar has also been partially brought under control. Our teams continue the cooling efforts for the fires in both Bilecik and Manisa. Meanwhile, the fire in Bolu Göynük has also been brought under control."
"RAIN IS ALSO A BLESSING FROM MY LORD, IT HAS MADE OUR WORK EASIER" Yumaklı's statement is as follows; "150 fires have been intervened. The fires in Bolu Göynük and Manisa have been brought under control. Cooling efforts continue in the fires in Bilecik and Manisa. Efforts will continue in the coming days. Our teams will continue this both from the ground and from the air. The rain that started in the Sakarya - Bilecik region is also a blessing from my Lord, it has made our work easier. Just last night, they opened a 58-kilometer forest road in 5.5-6 hours. This is a striking figure to illustrate the magnitude of the intervention here. In just two days, our planes made 350 sorties, and our helicopters made 2300 sorties across Turkey. While our teams determine the strategy for combating the fire, they also adjust the air and ground vehicles according to the geographical conditions of the region. Not every place is intervened by planes or helicopters. The figures are only the sortie numbers from the last two days. Our law enforcement agencies have been very meticulous in their work regarding the responsible parties of the fires. We will also follow up to ensure they receive the heaviest penalties."
MINISTER TUNÇ: 17 SUSPECTS HAVE BEEN DETAINED Justice Minister Yılmaz Tunç, in a statement made from his X account, said; "We extend our best wishes to all our citizens affected by the forest fires that occurred in various provinces between June 26-28, 2025. So far, 17 suspects have been detained as part of the multi-faceted and meticulous judicial investigations conducted by the relevant Chief Public Prosecutor's Offices regarding the fires."
"THERE IS NO DANGER IN OUR PENAL INSTITUTIONS" The Bilecik Gölpazarı Open Penal Institution has been evacuated as a precaution due to the fire, and 1081 detainees and convicts have been safely transferred to open penal institutions in surrounding provinces. Their families and relatives have been informed about the process. Currently, there is no danger in our penal institutions. We wish all our teams who are selflessly working to protect our #GreenNation ease in their duties."
