The Minister of Agriculture and Forestry, İbrahim Yumaklı, made a statement regarding the ongoing forest fires across Turkey.
"9 MAJOR FIRES HAVE BROKEN OUT"
Yumaklı stated, "Nine major fires have broken out in İzmir, Aydın, Denizli, and Manisa. The strong winds are affecting aerial intervention."
"11 AIRPLANES AND 27 HELICOPTERS ARE OPERATING"
Yumaklı continued, "Today, there was a wind reaching 120 kilometers in İzmir. The fire in Menderes is at the edge of the forest. The fire in Gaziemir started from a blaze in a factory yard. There are 11 airplanes and 27 helicopters working in İzmir. 1113 of our friends are fighting the fires.
"WE HAVE INTERVENED IN 1459 FIRES SINCE JUNE 1"
Our interventions will continue. As always, they will take advantage of the calmness that night brings. Strong winds are expected in Doğanbey and Kuyucak. 4 villages and 2 neighborhoods have been evacuated. A total of 3 citizens have been affected by smoke. We have intervened in 1459 fires since June 1.

Causing forest fires is a serious crime. There are prison sentences for it. Let's not say it won't happen; it does happen. Once again, let’s call out to everyone, do not light fires in open areas.
