On the other hand, the Syrian Army Operations Directorate announced to the Syrian state television Al-Ikhbariyya that armed groups affiliated with the PKK and operating under the YPG/SDG umbrella have closed the humanitarian crossing point aimed at ensuring the safe evacuation of civilians.
The statement noted that the duration of the humanitarian corridor has been extended for one more day to ensure the safe passage of civilians, and that the corridor will be open on Friday from 09:00 to 17:00. The Syrian army emphasized that "any point that obstructs the passage of civilians or aims to sabotage the corridor will be targeted appropriately."
Authorities stated that all field preparations have been completed to ensure the security of the region and called on civilians to stay away from points belonging to the terrorist organization YPG/SDG immediately.
Conflicts and security tensions continue between the Syrian army and the terrorist organization YPG/SDG in some regions of the north of the country.
WHAT HAPPENED?
The Syrian army had declared the occupied areas west of the Euphrates River as military zones due to the terrorist organization's buildup in the region and its execution of suicide drone attacks on Aleppo from there, demanding that all armed elements withdraw to the east of the Euphrates.
The Syrian army had decided to open a humanitarian corridor in the region for the evacuation of civilians, especially in the occupied areas of Deir Hafir and Meskene.
