Turkish message from South Korean leader Lee to Erdoğan: Welcome, Mr. President

South Korean President Lee Jae Myung made a statement regarding President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's visit to Seoul. Expressing his satisfaction at hosting Erdoğan in his country, Lee drew attention to the historic friendship between Türkiye and South Korea and stated that they wanted to strengthen cooperation in the fields of defense industry, economy, and energy.

South Korean President Lee Jae Myung made a statement on his X account regarding President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's state visit to the capital, Seoul.

Stating that he was greatly pleased to host Erdoğan in South Korea, Lee expressed his hope that the visit would contribute to the development of the strategic partnership between the two countries.

MESSAGE OF COOPERATION IN DEFENSE INDUSTRY AND ENERGY

Emphasizing the importance of economic and strategic relations between Türkiye and South Korea, Lee used the following statements in his statement:

"On the occasion of this visit, I hope to further develop our cooperation, especially in the defense industry, as well as in the economy, energy, and other fields, and to achieve results that will provide concrete benefits to the people of both countries."

EMPHASIS ON FRIENDSHIP COMING FROM THE KOREAN WAR

Also touching on the deep-rooted history of relations between the two countries, Lee recalled that the ties between Türkiye and South Korea date back to the Korean War.

Stating that the two countries, which have supported each other in difficult times, have carried their relations to the level of strategic partnership over time, Lee expressed his expectation that this solidarity will continue in the future.

VISIT DRAWING ATTENTION BEFORE THE 70TH ANNIVERSARY

Lee also drew attention to the fact that President Erdoğan's visit took place before 2027, when the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Türkiye and South Korea will be celebrated.

The South Korean leader expressed his hope that the friendly relations between the two countries will turn into stronger and more comprehensive cooperation in the coming period.
