U.S. FLAG RAISED AT THE EMBASSY BUILDING
At a ceremony held at the U.S. embassy residence located in the Abu Rummaneh neighborhood of the capital Damascus, the U.S. Ambassador to Ankara and Special Representative for Syria, Thomas Barrack, raised his country's flag with the participation of Syrian Foreign Minister Assad Shaybani.
The U.S. Embassy in Damascus had suspended its operations in 2012 for security reasons.
SANCTIONS HAVE BEEN LIFTED
