The black-and-white club used the following statements in its announcement;

"Important Announcement to Our Fans Regarding the Olympique Lyon – Beşiktaş Match

The Governor of Lyon had decided that our fans would not be allowed into the stadium and the city of Lyon regarding the UEFA Europa League match to be played on Thursday, October 24, at OL Stadium between our Football Team and Olympique Lyon.

As a result of the security meeting held with the participation of the Lyon Governorate, French Police, UEFA Security Unit, Turkish Football Federation Security Coordination, and Turkey NFIP, in line with our club's efforts to review the said decision; the decision taken by the Lyon Governorate was definitively approved due to the high security risk and the possibility of serious incidents occurring again, as experienced in 2017.

We would like to state that our fans will not be able to occupy the away stand in the Olympique Lyon – Beşiktaş match and inform our fans that no travel arrangements should be made for the said match to avoid any grievances."
