U.S. President Donald Trump announced that Iran has halted attacks on energy facilities until April 6, stating that negotiations with Tehran are progressing "very well." Meanwhile, it was reported that the Pentagon presented a plan to Trump to send up to 10,000 additional troops to the Middle East.
In the Iran War, which has been ongoing for about a month, discussions continue on whether an agreement can be reached between the US and Iran. While it is noted that Iran is taking a distant approach to Washington's 15-point peace proposal, Trump claims that the Tehran administration wants to make a deal.
“NEGOTIATIONS ARE GOING VERY WELL”
In a statement made on his Truth Social account, Trump indicated that he has halted attacks on energy facilities for ten days at the request of the Iranian government. “I am halting attacks on energy facilities until April 6 at the request of the Iranian government. Negotiations are ongoing,” he stated.
It was recalled that Trump, who previously stated that they would target Iran's power plants if the Strait of Hormuz was not opened within 48 hours, had initially postponed these attacks by 5 days.
“IRAN IS BEGGING FOR A DEAL”
Trump, who suggested that Iran wants to come to the negotiating table, said, “Iran admits they are defeated. They want to talk. They say ‘we are not talking’ but they are begging for a deal.” Emphasizing that the opportunity for an agreement depends on Iran, Trump stated that the Strait of Hormuz would be opened if a proper deal is made.
Trump also indicated that attacks on Iran would continue, saying, “We are destroying Iran. The greatest destruction since World War II is happening.”
IRAN'S CONDITIONAL RESPONSE
Iran announced that it has officially responded to the US's 15-point proposal. A source speaking to the Tasnim News Agency stated that the response was conveyed through mediators. A source speaking to Reuters reported that the response was sent via Pakistan.
The Iranian side demanded that attacks completely cease, concrete guarantees be provided that the war would not be repeated, war reparations be secured, and conflicts be ended on all fronts.
IRAN: NEGOTIATIONS ARE A “DECEPTION PROJECT”
Iranian officials stated that they do not find the US's negotiation process sincere, claiming that it is a “deception project.” It was suggested that Washington aims to control global oil prices and gain time for a possible ground operation through this process.
PENTAGON CONSIDERING 10,000 ADDITIONAL TROOPS
According to a report by the Wall Street Journal, the Pentagon has proposed sending up to 10,000 additional troops to the Middle East to President Trump. It was stated that Trump is evaluating this proposal.
It was also noted that the US has deployed the 82nd Airborne Division, known for its rapid response capability, to the region and that the possibility of a ground operation is on the agenda.
Summary: Trump announced that they have halted attacks on energy facilities until April 6 at the request of Iran, while negotiations are ongoing and the Pentagon is evaluating a plan to send 10,000 additional troops to the region.
US DEATH SQUAD IN THE REGION
On the other hand, the 82nd Airborne Division, one of the elite units that plays a key role in the US's global military strategy, has come back into focus amid rising tensions in the Middle East. It was claimed that a forward unit consisting of approximately 2,000 soldiers has been deployed to the region during this critical period of ongoing conflicts along the US-Israel-Iran line.
A report in The Telegraph stated that the possibility of this deployment highlights the Washington administration's rapid response capacity and is seen as a significant step in terms of global power projection.
US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, in a speech at Fort Bragg in North Carolina in May 2025, used the phrase “ready at any moment, deadly at any moment” for the unit. Addressing thousands of paratroopers, Hegseth said, “When I look at this formation, I see deterrence. I see the tangible form of American power.” Hegseth also emphasized that the US would restore peace globally by using its military power.
FORCE THAT CAN BE DEPLOYED WITHIN HOURS
As part of the rapid response doctrine restructured during President Donald Trump's administration, the reaction time of the 82nd Airborne Division has been dramatically shortened. According to officials, the unit can now become operational anywhere in the world within a few hours. This capability is critically important for sudden crises, evacuations, and show of force operations.
Messages shared on the unit's official communication channels also support this approach. The phrase “Our enemies never sleep. The 82nd Division never sleeps,” featured in a video released in 2018, reflects the unit's doctrine of being always ready. The slogan “Death from above” used in the same video symbolizes the characteristic attack style of airborne units.
