48,000 PEOPLE LAID OFF
In the statement, which also shared information about UPS's transformation strategy, it was expressed that approximately 14,000 people were laid off, primarily in management positions, as part of an initiative aimed at returning to a more efficient business model and adapting the business to respond more quickly to market dynamics.
The statement also recorded that the operational workforce was reduced by approximately 34,000 people. Thus, UPS has terminated a total of 48,000 jobs so far this year.
