26 INJURED PEOPLE DISCHARGED AFTER THE EARTHQUAKE
After the 6.1 magnitude earthquake in Balıkesir, schools were closed, and Health Minister Kemal Memişoğlu reported that 26 people injured due to the earthquake were discharged after their treatments in hospitals.
Minister Memişoğlu stated in his announcement: "All treatments of our 26 citizens who were injured due to secondary causes such as jumping and falling in the earthquake that occurred in Balıkesir and was felt in surrounding provinces have been carried out in our hospitals, and all our injured have been discharged. I once again extend my best wishes to our citizens."
DEBRIS REMOVAL WORKS HAVE STARTED
After the earthquake, debris removal works were also initiated in the collapsed buildings. Teams from the Provincial Directorate of Environment, Urbanization, and Climate Change, dispatched to the region after the earthquake, are continuing damage assessment studies. The teams took core samples from the collapsed structures to examine the concrete durability.
After the completion of the examination and documentation processes, debris removal works in the collapsed buildings began in a controlled manner. In the works carried out with construction machinery belonging to the State Hydraulic Works, the debris loaded onto trucks is being transported to designated dumping areas.
MINISTER YERLİKAYA VISITED THE EPICENTER SINDIRGI
Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya visited the citizens affected by the 6.1 magnitude earthquake that occurred in the Sındırgı district of Balıkesir. In Sındırgı, where he arrived by road, Yerlikaya conveyed his "get well soon" wishes to the citizens whose homes were severely damaged in the earthquake and who took shelter in cafes in the district due to the downpour. Yerlikaya also met with teams conducting damage assessment and aid work in the region and inspected the area where the buildings collapsed. Later, Yerlikaya received information about the ongoing works at the AFAD Coordination Center set up in the garden of the Government House.
