The Montenegrin government announced yesterday that, in light of recent events, the visa-free travel application for Turkish citizens has been temporarily suspended for security reasons.
NEW VISA STEP FOR TURKS FROM MONTENEGRO
Following the decision made yesterday, Montenegro announced new visa procedures for Turks. The statement indicated that necessary steps would be taken to ensure that the approximately 14,000 Turks residing in the country remain compliant with the laws of Montenegro. It was also announced that an expedited visa procedure would be implemented for Turks wishing to travel to Montenegro or transit through the country.
MINISTER FIDAN MADE A CALL
According to information obtained from sources in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs; Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan held phone conversations with Montenegrin Prime Minister Miloyko Spayić, Montenegrin Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ervin Ibrahimović.
Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan expressed expectations for necessary measures to be taken to ensure the safety and rights of Turkish citizens. The Montenegrin side provided assurances on this matter.
