The leader of the CHP, Özgür Özel, harshly criticized the Minister of Treasury and Finance, Mehmet Şimşek, through MASAK. Özel stated, "This man has no trustworthy qualities as an economist or as a person. The world should know this. Mehmet Şimşek's reputation is at rock bottom."
In the group meeting held at the Beşiktaş Mustafa Kemal Cultural Center, CHP Chairman Özgür Özel harshly criticized the Minister of Treasury and Finance Mehmet Şimşek based on the MASAK reports involved in the corruption investigation against the İBB.
"NO ONE SHOULD CONSIDER HIM AN ECONOMIST"
Özel stated, "MASAK is an institution affiliated with Mehmet Şimşek. He has used this disgrace for his institution. There is nothing trustworthy about this man, both as an economist and as a person. The world should know this. This is Mehmet Şimşek. No one should consider him a man or an economist. Mehmet Şimşek's reputation is at rock bottom," he said.
"HE IS STRUGGLING NOT TO RESIGN"
CHP leader Özgür Özel, in a statement he made in Saraçhane, said, "Mehmet Şimşek is supposedly struggling not to resign. He says, 'I am digging with a needle, and they are covering it with a shovel.' Mehmet Efendi, if you don't resign, I will be left with a grudge. What does it matter if you resign or not? They have burned 26 billion of the 42.8 billion dollars that Mehmet Efendi has accumulated in two years in just three days," he said.
MEHMET ŞİMŞEK: WE ARE ON DUTY
Minister of Treasury and Finance Şimşek responded to Özel's remarks, stating, "We are on duty." In a statement he made on social media, Şimşek said, "We are on duty. We will continue to take all necessary steps for the healthy functioning of the markets. Please do not pay attention to baseless news."
