Virus Deaths Continue To Rise In Oman, Kuwait

Libya and Palestine also confirmed new fatalities due to pandemic.

The coronavirus pandemic continued to claim more lives in Oman, Kuwait, Libya and Palestine on Wednesday, as the Middle East struggles to curb the outbreak.
In Oman, the Health Ministry said nine patients had died from COVID-19, while 1,210 people were sickened over the past 24 hours.
The country's count now rose to 50,207 cases, including 233 deaths, and 32,005 recoveries.
In Kuwait, two people succumbed to the disease, in addition to 762 new cases and 593 recoveries, according to the Health Ministry.
The Gulf state's new figures bring the tally to 52,007 cases, including 379 deaths, and 42,108 recoveries.
In Libya, the government's National Center for Disease Control (NCDC) recorded one fatality, 65 new infections and 26 recoveries.
In a statement, the NCDC said the country's new figure takes the tally to 1,182 cases, including 35 fatalities, and 295 recoveries.
Meanwhile, the Palestinian Health Ministry said one person had lost his life to the virus, while 475 others were sickened, bringing the total cases to 5,567, including 23 deaths, while the recoveries remained at 668.
Since originating in China last December, the pandemic has claimed over 544,400 lives in 188 countries and regions.
More than 11.83 million cases have been reported worldwide, while over 6.45 million patients have recovered so far, according to figures compiled by the US' Johns Hopkins University.
