The delegation of the DEM Party, consisting of Istanbul MP Sırrı Süreyya Önder and Van MP Pervin Buldan, met with terrorist leader Abdullah Öcalan on İmralı Island on December 28, after a 4.5-year hiatus. Bahçeli's welcoming of the delegation at the door before the 40-minute meeting was also widely discussed.
