Following the investigation by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office into the Ahbap Association and the detention of Haluk Levent, MHP leader Devlet Bahçeli's previous harsh criticisms of the Ahbap Association have come back to the agenda.
The investigation launched against the Ahbap Association, founded and chaired by singer Haluk Levent, has hit Turkey's agenda like a bombshell.
Following Haluk Levent's detention and the emergence of new details in the investigation, MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli's earlier harsh criticisms of the Ahbap Association have resurfaced.
"THEY ARE FLAPPING THEIR WINGS LIKE VULTURES"
MHP Leader Bahçeli compared the association to a 'vulture,' stating that they are "portraying the state as helpless."
Bahçeli used the following statements in his criticism:
“What has the state failed to do, calm down, or keep up with, that the Ahbap crew and Babala crew are flapping their wings like vultures? These fraudsters should no longer appear on Turkish television. When will those who flock to social media as if showing the state in a state of helplessness realize they are cutting off the branch they sit on? Whose job is such depravity, and who has the right?”
AHBAP INVESTIGATION
Within the scope of the investigation led by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office against the Ahbap Association, 20 people, including singer Haluk Levent and lawyer Ece Güner, who is said to be Haluk Levent's advisor, were detained on charges of 'Violation of the Associations Law', 'Money laundering of assets derived from crime', and 'Membership in an organization'.
It was determined that Haluk Levent gambled 990 million lira and lost 390 million lira between 2020 and 2026. Additionally, it was found that 120 million lira was transferred from the Ahbap Association's account to the account of his assistant Yeliz Kaya.
