The Ministry of Health of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus responded to allegations regarding the famous artist Volkan Konak, who suddenly fell ill and passed away while performing in the country. Claims of "delay" and "insufficient intervention" regarding Volkan Konak's death had been raised.

SECURITY CAMERA FOOTAGE HAS ALSO BEEN SHARED

In the statement made, it was emphasized that the ambulance arrived at the scene within 8 minutes and that all medical interventions were carried out completely. Additionally, security camera recordings of the moments when Volkan Konak fell ill and when the ambulance arrived were also shared.

"AMBULANCE ARRIVED AT THE SCENE IN 8 MINUTES"

In the statement, security camera footage of the incident was shared with the public second by second, and the following expressions were included:

"As the Ministry of Health, we feel the need to make a statement to properly inform the public regarding the death of the valuable musician Volkan Konak, who came to our country to perform a concert due to the holiday and unfortunately passed away while on stage.

Firstly, as seen in the camera recordings, on Sunday, March 30, 2025, at 23:27, the artist Volkan Konak fell ill on stage and collapsed. At 23:29, a call was made to the 112 Command Control Center, and immediately after the call, our health team, accompanied by an internal medicine specialist, departed from Yeni İskele and arrived at the scene at 23:37, exactly 8 minutes later. When evaluated according to international emergency medical intervention standards, the ambulance's response time is considered ideal. Our teams intervened in a timely manner and carried out all necessary medical procedures in accordance with treatment protocols.

"NO PULSE OR RESPIRATION DETECTED IN INITIAL INTERVENTION"

We would also like to point out that in the past year, 15 fully equipped new ambulances capable of providing all kinds of emergency interventions have been put into service, and our ambulances are equipped with the latest technology to handle all kinds of emergency cases, especially heart attacks. Contrary to what has been reported in the media, the ambulance did not come from a distant location but departed from the nearest center, İskele. On the day of the incident, our team, consisting of a doctor, a nurse, and a driver, quickly reached the scene and performed all necessary medical interventions. Despite all basic life support efforts made, no response was obtained. In the initial examination conducted by the 112 emergency teams at the scene, no pulse or respiration was detected, and it was noted that the patient was completely unresponsive.

"A HOTEL GUEST DOCTOR INTERVENED UNTIL THE AMBULANCE ARRIVED"

Additionally, the first intervention was performed on our artist by a chest surgeon and an anesthesiologist staying at the hotel until our 112 teams arrived, and according to the information we received, our artist had no pulse, respiration, or consciousness from the very beginning. After the initial interventions by our 112 emergency team, the patient was quickly transferred to Gazimağusa State Hospital, where, despite all efforts of the emergency service team and specialized doctors, unfortunately, no positive outcome was achieved. The ambulance that responded to the incident was not an inadequate ambulance as claimed, but one of the new ambulances acquired within the year, fully equipped and functioning optimally. Therefore, we would like to emphasize once again that the ambulance, along with the internal medicine specialist doctor and nurse, arrived at the scene on time, and that the medical equipment, devices, and medications were complete. We express our deep sorrow over the passing of our valuable artist Volkan Konak once again and extend our condolences to his family, relatives, and all his fans."
