Eyüpspor has signed an official contract with its new head coach, Selçuk Şahin. The club's vice president, Fatih Kulaksız, spoke about the future of Berke Özer, who has expressed his dream of playing in Europe, saying, "We haven't received an offer that meets our expectations. We have high hopes for him. We want to elevate his value. We are not selling Berke Özer at the moment, and we will continue with him."
The Super League team Eyüpspor has signed an official contract with Selçuk Şahin, who has been appointed as the head coach in place of Arda Turan.
3-YEAR SIGNING WITH SELÇUK ŞAHİN
At the ceremony held at Eyüpspor Kemerburgaz Facilities, attended by the club's vice president Fatih Kulaksız, Selçuk Şahin signed a contract that binds him to the Eflatun-yellow colors for three years.
'WE WILL TAKE THE CLUB EVEN FURTHER'
Fatih Kulaksız stated that Eyüpspor is an emerging value in the country's sports, saying, "Hopefully, we will take the club further. We are making a fresh start with our new head coach. We will write a new story. We want to give opportunities to young and ambitious coaches like Selçuk Şahin and Arda Turan. We want to facilitate the rise of young coaches. That’s why we started a beautiful beginning with our coach, feeling good about it." he expressed.
Stating that Selçuk Şahin will not continue his duties in the national team, Kulaksız said, "The national team is a very important place. The coaches of the national team need to focus fully on the team. Therefore, we thought that his departure would be very important." he stated.
'WE WANT TO LOWER THE AVERAGE AGE OF THE SQUAD'
Fatih Kulaksız explained that they will evaluate the transfer period well, stating: "We are making a plan with our coach. We have no obligation to acquire players from Galatasaray, Fenerbahçe, or Beşiktaş. We prefer opportunity transfers if they arise. We want to lower the average age of the squad. We want to transfer players who will provide financial contribution to the club through sales. Sometimes different opportunities can arise towards the end of the transfer period. There are positions where we need to make quick decisions. For some positions, we will wait for opportunities."
Addressing the future of goalkeeper Berke Özer, who has repeatedly expressed his dream of playing in Europe, Kulaksız said, "Our coach had a discussion with him to keep him in the team. We also want to continue with him. We haven't received an offer that meets our expectations. We expect a lot from him. We want to elevate his value. We are not selling Berke Özer right now, and we will continue with him." he evaluated.

New head coach Selçuk Şahin expressed his excitement when he received an offer from Eyüpspor, stating, "They finished the league in 6th place last year. Eyüpspor has a club philosophy. This philosophy suits me as well. I am happy to be here. Taking responsibility for this team is rewarding. I want to take this flag I received even further. I am in a very important and beautiful club. We have a very nice facility. Hopefully, we will be successful throughout the process. My team and I will do our best. We want to bring the team to a better place than last year." he stated.
Şahin mentioned that he spoke with Eyüpspor's former head coach Arda Turan, saying, "He is a friend I constantly communicate with. I will call him during the season." Reiterating that they want to surpass last year, the 44-year-old coach said, "Eyüpspor had a very successful season last year. Our squad planning is underway. We need players. We will make transfers. We have a very extensive list. Surpassing last year will be difficult, but I believe we will build a squad that can achieve this." he said.
