What is written on the payroll does not match what is deposited into the account! A million-dollar scam with additional lessons in middle school.

Teachers at a middle school in Kocaeli discovered that the additional lesson fees on their salary statements were different from the amount deposited into their accounts. The teachers noticed that the insufficiently deposited additional lesson fees were being transferred to different bank accounts for approximately 4 years. Hürriyetçi Eğitim Sendikası Kocaeli Şubesi (Hürriyet Education Union Kocaeli Branch) filed a criminal complaint regarding the allegations, and the union's president, Levent Kuruoğlu, stated, "There is a loophole in the finance system, and based on our findings, it appears that embezzlement of over 4.5 million TL has occurred in just one school." An investigation was initiated both administratively and judicially, while the Provincial Director of National Education, Ömer Akmanşen, stated, "As soon as we learned about the incident, we immediately assigned our inspectors with the approval of the governorship."



In Gölcük district's Yunus Emre neighborhood, some teachers working at Gölcük Saraylı Middle School noticed inconsistencies in their salary statements and payment receipts on May 17. According to the allegations, some of the teachers who compared their additional lesson fees realized that the amount deposited into their accounts was approximately three times higher than the amount stated. Upon this discovery, the teachers checked their accounts retrospectively and found that this situation had been occurring for about 4 years, and the difference in the additional lesson fee stated on their salary statements was being deposited into different bank accounts.



A criminal complaint was filed by Adem Ellialtıoğlu, the President of Hürriyetçi Eğitim Sendikası Kocaeli Şube (Hürriyet Education Union Kocaeli Branch), against the school principal responsible for calculating the additional lesson fees, the district support services chief and officials who examined and approved the transactions, the branch director, and the Gölcük Provincial Director of National Education for "embezzlement," "abuse of duty," and "forgery of official documents." Following the complaint, both the Kocaeli Chief Public Prosecutor's Office and the Kocaeli Provincial Directorate of National Education initiated investigations into the allegations.



Ömer Akmanşen, the Provincial Director of National Education in Kocaeli, stated that inspectors were assigned to the case, saying, "As soon as we learned about the incident, we immediately assigned our inspectors with the approval of the governorship. We will initiate investigations into those responsible. Whoever is responsible will be evaluated."



Regarding the allegation of the additional lesson fee difference being deposited into different bank accounts, Akmanşen stated, "Our inspectors will evaluate the results of comparing the salary statements with the teachers' bank accounts in accordance with the procedure."



Levent Kuruoğlu, the President of Hür-Sen Confederation and Hürriyetçi Eğitim Sen (Hürriyet Education Union), expressed his reaction to the incident on his social media account, stating, "It has been determined that in a school in Gölcük, Kocaeli, the additional lesson fees on some of our teachers' salary statements appear to be three times higher than what they actually receive. In other words, the additional lesson fee is shown as 15,000 TL on the salary statement, but only 5,000 TL is deposited into their accounts. This irregularity has been ongoing for 4 years. In the meeting with the District Director of National Education, it was understood that the remaining amount was transferred to other accounts. A criminal complaint has been filed by our Kocaeli Branch President, Adem Ellialtıoğlu, today."



Kuruoğlu, who stated that there is a loophole in the finance system and based on their findings, embezzlement of over 4.5 million TL has occurred in just one school, warned the teachers in his post. He said, "The same method may have been noticed by others, and the same embezzlement may have been carried out through other teachers' accounts. Please examine your salary statements retrospectively and inform us if you have any information. We can assist you in preventing potential major troubles regarding victimization."
