AK Party Rize Member of Parliament Harun Mertoğlu brought the Fenerbahçe-Çaykur Rizespor match, which sparked debates due to referee decisions in the 22nd week of the Trendyol Super League, to the agenda of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM).
"A SHAMEFUL NIGHT FOR TURKISH FOOTBALL"
Speaking in the General Assembly of the Parliament, Mertoğlu argued that Rizespor's rights were violated in the match where the yellow-navy team came back from a 2-0 deficit to win 3-2. Mertoğlu, who called for the resignation of the Turkish Football Federation (TFF) and the Central Referee Board (MHK), said, "We have left behind a shameful night for Turkish football."
"RIZESPOR'S EFFORT HAS BEEN STOLEN BY SCANDALOUS REFEREE DECISIONS"
Mertoğlu stated: "The effort of Çaykur Rizespor has been stolen on the field by scandalous referee decisions. The decisions made against Rizespor in the last five seasons are no longer coincidences. This has become a system."
"TFF AND MHK MUST RESIGN IMMEDIATELY"
Instead of ensuring justice, the referees have clearly disregarded the efforts of one team on the field. The Turkish Football Federation and the Central Referee Board must resign immediately. We ask openly: Why are Rizespor's rights not being recognized? Even foreign VAR referees have become suspicious in this matter.
"ENOUGH ALREADY, STOP"
Is football only played for big teams? If justice is not ensured on the field, there will be no trust left in that league. We call on the entire football community to stand against injustice. Çaykur Rizespor is not alone. There can be no success in football without justice. Enough already, stop."
