Turkey will launch 5G mobile technology on April 1st. Owners of compatible phones and SIM cards will be able to use high-speed internet services within the 5G coverage area starting from this date. Here are the steps to use 5G...
Users with phones and SIM cards compatible with 5G technology will be able to use this technology within coverage areas by activating 5G systems on both the operator and the phone starting from April 1.
The 5th generation of mobile communication, 5G, fundamentally changes the wireless network architecture compared to previous generations. Designed for everything in the digital world to communicate with each other in real-time, this technology also responds to the instantaneous response times and high connection demands that mobile networks cannot meet. With its speed, which reaches gigabit levels, 5G distinguishes itself from previous technologies where speed was previously expressed in megabits.
WILL BE USED NATIONWIDE FROM APRIL 1
Turkey has been working on the transition to 5G for a long time. The technology, which was made available last year as part of test studies in many areas such as stadiums, will be used nationwide starting from April 1.
5G will initially be activated in 81 provincial centers and will spread to every corner of the country within 2 years. Therefore, this technology, which will only be available in city centers in the initial stages, will gradually expand.
WHAT NEEDS TO BE DONE FOR 5G USAGE
- For fifth-generation mobile communication, users must first have a compatible mobile phone and a compatible SIM card. Currently, SIM cards compatible with 4.5G technology are also compatible with 5G, while there is a requirement to update SIM cards belonging to previous technologies.
- Once a compatible phone and SIM card are obtained, the next step is to activate this technology. 5G can be activated via SMS or through the mobile applications of the 3 operators that will provide this service in Turkey.
- In the final step, the network needs to be switched from LTE or 4.5G to 5G from the phone's "Settings," "Cellular," or "Mobile Networks" section.
Users who have compatible phones and SIM cards and activate 5G systems on both the operator and the phone will be able to use this technology within coverage areas starting from April 1.
HOW TO CHECK IF THE PHONE IS COMPATIBLE?
According to the statement by the Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, Abdulkadir Uraloğlu, out of approximately 95 million mobile phones in Turkey, 32 million are reported to be compatible with 5G. About a year ago, this figure was around 15 million. With the activation of 5G, this number is expected to increase.
In this context, it has been stated by operators that iPhone 12 and later models are compatible with Apple phones, and Galaxy S21 and later models are compatible with Samsung phones. If users see 5G as the highest technology under "Cellular" or "Mobile Networks" in the "Settings" menu on Android and iPhone phones, it means they have a compatible phone for this technology.
Users can also determine whether their phones are 5G compatible through the operators' websites.
INCREASED DATA USAGE
The 3 operators that will launch this technology on April 1 have also focused on campaigns for 5G compatible phones. Thus, users can start using 5G by upgrading their phones. However, 5G brings high data usage along with high speed. This means that internet packages may deplete faster compared to 4.5G technology. Operators are offering new packages with options like "unlimited mobile internet" for high usage.
WILL CREATE DIFFERENCES IN MANY AREAS
In addition to faster internet, 5G is expected to bring critical changes in many areas of life. With this technology, large files can be downloaded in seconds, connection dropouts in crowded places like concerts, stadiums, and subways will decrease, and quick communication with other electronic devices via mobile devices will be possible.
The widespread use of remote surgeries with robots is aimed to be possible thanks to 5G's latency time falling below 1 millisecond, allowing a surgeon to operate on a patient thousands of kilometers away with instantaneous reactions as if they were right next to them.
Additionally, 5G offers the possibility of thousands of sensors and robots working simultaneously in industry and production, as well as the ability to irrigate and monitor fields with sensors.
With the reduction of latency in mobile gaming, stuttering will decrease, and cloud-based games will be easier to play anywhere with 5G.
