The World Health Organization has called for the urgent protection of the Nasser and Al-Aamal hospitals located in the Gaza Strip. In a statement, it was said, "Nasser and Al-Aamal, the most important referral hospitals remaining in Gaza, are at risk of becoming non-functional."

The World Health Organization (WHO) has called for "urgent protection" for the Nasser and Amal hospitals in the Gaza Strip, which are under intense attacks and blockade by Israel.

The World Health Organization shared information about the overall health situation in Gaza and the Nasser and Amal hospitals through the institution's official social media account.

"WE ARE CALLING FOR URGENT PROTECTION FOR HOSPITALS"

The post stated, "We are calling for urgent protection for the Nasser and Amal hospitals in the Gaza Strip." The post warned that the health system in Gaza is on the verge of collapse, stating, "The Nasser and Amal hospitals, which are the most important referral hospitals remaining in Gaza, are at risk of becoming non-functional."

"THE LAST TWO FUNCTIONAL HOSPITALS"

The post noted that there are currently no hospitals operating in northern Gaza, emphasizing that the Nasser and Amal hospitals are the last two functional public hospitals in the Khan Younis area, where most of the population resides, and that without them, people would lose access to critical health services.

"THIS MUST END IMMEDIATELY"

Although there has been no evacuation request from Israel for these hospitals, the post indicated that they are located either within or just outside the evacuation zone announced on June 2. It stated, "Israeli authorities have informed the Ministry of Health that access routes to both hospitals will be blocked. The relentless and systematic destruction of hospitals in Gaza has been ongoing for a long time. This must end immediately."

CALL FOR A PERMANENT CEASEFIRE

The post reminded that health workers, WHO, and partners have managed to keep health services partially operational despite extreme conditions for over 20 months, emphasizing that repeated attacks, denial of aid, and restricted access have systematically fragmented the health system.

The post noted that hospitals should never be militarized or targeted, stating, "WHO demands the immediate and safe acceleration of the delivery of essential medicines and medical supplies to Gaza and their facilitation through all possible routes. WHO calls for an immediate and permanent ceasefire."
